It's funny you guys put this up today, because i was just about to ask if anybody was planning on going to the WizardWorld convention in Chicago this August.
I've never gone before, but it looks like this year i will get to.
So if anyone lives near Chicago or was toying with the idea of going, it'd be cool to run into one(or more) of you guys/gals.
Hmm.. week after Christmas... (don't know yet how much time off the boss will give us, or how my folks would feel about that..)
Okay...the main point of the Mon Con would be to get as many of us together as possible, so we're looking for any and all suggestions that would give us that end!
I vote for Orlando, Dec 27-Jan 3.

But, and I hate to be the downer here, I have two problems-no make it three. 1) the parental units would, of course be frightened for me, or what not. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/confused.gif So I would have to most likely drag one along with me.
2)I usualy am off visiting family members

The suggestions given thus far sound good to me. I'm all kinds of excited about the MonCon! I still like the idea of all of us being in NYC, trying to get on the Today show with our Nightcrawler apparel and blue hair (imagine Katie and Matt's faces!), but I'm game for whatever the concensus agrees to.

Wow what a cool idea! Unfortunately I feel a lot like Hiddencrawler....I'm out of High School, but money (and that's the biggest issue) and.....well MONEY is the problem for me. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif I suppose that things could change by Christmas, but who knows?? I will certainly keep this thing in mind....boy would I love to see Universal Studios...I've never been there! -.-

Alrigt, KC, sounds like a plan! I live in Florida, on the SW coast, so I could definitely make it. After Christmas is great too. I've been to Orlando only once, for a FBLA competition. I loved it! I also want to work for Disney too! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif And can you believe, I love in Florida, and I've only been to Disney for Grad Nite? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/eek.gif But I've always wanted to go to Universal, especially Islands of Adventure. Seriously, I think this is a great idea and I'm willing to help any way I can. Any time is good for me, really, I'm easy. No, not that kind of east SHAME! SHAME on you all... I love Florida myself, so that sounds great and winter would be good since it's the off-season.
We, me and the SO and two other couples, are thinking of going to Wizard World this year. He went last year and had a blast. So maybe we could have a mini Mon Con there for anyone who is planning to go.

Even though I think I maybe, maybe might have enough money (even with the exchange rate http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif ) for a trip to somewhere in the States by Christmas next year, I really don't think my parents would let me spend it. They want me to save for college... but I'm really beginning to doubt the entire "delaying of gratification" thing. Save all your piddling after school job salary ($8000? $9000? Whatever, it's Canadian) so you only have to take out some loans for university! Then, once you're making $50,000 to $100,000 (American! Double it for Canadian estimate http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif ) it won't take quite as long to pay off your school loans.
Maybe my logic here is off and a life time of living in Saskatchewan has driven me desperately insane, but I'll look into the possibility of actually getting to meet you guys.
For location... um, Florida seems like a popular choice. Even though it's about as far from here as you can get and still be in the US. But it seems like it would be most convenient for the majority.

Well, that's one reason why we're bringing this up now, so that people can start saving money. I very much have this very same problem...I make somewhere aroun $10,000 a year, and I'm living on my own and putting myself through college, so I have very little extra money...But if I know that you people actually want to do this, actually want to get this going, then I can start saving! I figure we've all got until about October before the rates start going sky high, so that's still 6 months to save! I'm going to save extra money on top of that to help out people who are short.
I really want to know what our MIA old firends think about all of this...Spatch? Drags? Mit? Rex? X-Girl?
